Chairperson Dr Richard Phoon has been a full-time Senior Staff Specialist in Nephrology and Dialysis in Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals since 2007. He has held several senior clinical, educational, management and leadership roles, including Honorary Treasurer of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nephrology (ANZSN), Chair of the Advanced Training Committee of Nephrology (RACP), Director of the Kidney School programme (ANZSN), and Chair of the KHA-CARI Guideline for the Management of CKD among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Māori. He has been a longstanding member of the Primary Care Education Advisory Committee for Kidney Health Australia and published widely on the topics of chronic kidney disease and education in nephrologyDr Konrad Kangru B. Speaker Dr Konrad Kangru gained his MBBS from University of Queensland in 2000, has been in private Rural General Practice in the Whitsundays region of Queensland since 2005, where he has been a GP Supervisor and Medical Educator since 2009. He has remained a very active advocate for improving the support of rural doctors, currently as Deputy Chair of the Statewide Rural and Remote Clinical Network, and also having served as President and prior Conference Convenor of the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland. Dr Kangru has also undertaken and presented his research on the Self-Care of rural doctors, and has special interests in Medical Education and Diabetes management, particularly in up-skilling colleagues about this important condition.Dr Sheena Wilmot MBBS (Hons 1 University of Sydney)
Speaker Dr Sheena Wilmot has over 30 years’ experience as a GP. Dr Wilmot also works in aboriginal health, assists with gynaecological surgeries, has a special interest in preventative medicine, women's and men's health, travel medicine and skin cancer. She is a member of the Primary Care Education Advisory Committee for Kidney Health Australia (PEAK).Dr. Brendon Neuen
Speaker Dr Brendon Neuen is a nephrology advanced trainee and NHMRC Postgraduate Scholar at The George Institute for Global Health, UNSW Sydney.He is an internationally recognised expert on the efficacy and safety of SGLT2 inhibitors in diabetes and chronic kidney disease, having led several analyses of the CANVAS and CREDENCE.He is involved in several ongoing international multi-centre randomized trials and has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles and conference proceedings in general medical journals including The Lancet, BMJ and specialty journals including Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, Circulation, and the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. His work has directly informed major international clinical practice guidelines which define best practice for the care of people with type 2 diabetes and kidney disease, including the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) Guidelines and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Standards of Care. In addition, he serves on committees of the Australasian Kidney Trials Network and the International Society of Nephrology
