Dr David Woods
SpeakerDr Woods completed his Bachelor of Medicines and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Notre Dame, Sydney, in 2011. Dr Woods completed his immediate post-graduate training within the local Hunter New England Health district. He then finished his formal training in anaesthesia with the awarding of the Joint Consultative Committee Certificate of Anaesthesia (JCCA) in 2014. In additional to working in general practice, Dr Woods is a visiting medical officer at Singleton District Hospital and provides anaesthetic services at Muswell brook District Hospital and Scott Memorial Hospital in Scone.
Dr James McCracken
SpeakerDr James McCracken is a Medical Oncologist, with expertise in the management and care of patients with breast, lung and gastrointestinal (oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, bowel and liver) cancers. Dr McCracken is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre & Epworth Freemasons. He is also actively involved in research, undertaking a PhD through the University of Melbourne, where he is also undertaking a PhD in the clinical utility of circulating tumour DNA as a predictive and prognostic biomarker in breast cancer. Dr McCracken graduated from the Australian National University in 2011, graduating with the Australian Medical Association Leadership Prize in his final year.
Associate Professor Ghauri Aggarwal
SpeakerA/Prof Aggarwal has been the Head of the Palliative Care Department at Concord Hospital since 1996 and is currently the Deputy Clinical Director Cancer Services and Palliative Care SLHD. Her practice includes hospital consultancy, ambulatory and inpatient care in palliative medicine within the district wide Sydney Palliative Care Service, SLHD. She has been involved in the development of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Chapter of Palliative Medicine and is the chair of the Executive of the Sydney Institute of Palliative Medicine. Her interests include undergraduate and postgraduate education in palliative care, communication skills and ethics and end of life decision making.
Dr Namrata Nayar
SpeakerDr Namrata Nayar has been practicing as a Consultant Medical Oncologist as Gosford Private Hospital since 2017 and also works as a part-time Staff Specialist in General Medicine at Central Coast Local Health District, Wyong Hospital. She graduated with a Bachelor of Surgery from India and completed her Advanced Training in Medical Oncology at the North Coast Cancer Institute and Central Coast Cancer Centre, Gosford Hospital.
Dr Nayar has a strong interest in clinical research and has contributed to a number of clinical trials. Additionally, she is a Conjoint Lecturer with the University of Newcastle and provides mentorship and supervision to Basic Physician trainees preparing for their FRACP exams.
